Meet Our Ministry Team

Our staff is here to serve, encourage, and help people grow in their relationship with Christ.

 

Whether you're visiting for the first time, looking for a church home, or seeking ways to get involved, we'd love the opportunity to meet you and help you get connected.

Behind the scenes and throughout the week, our ministry staff works together to support the life and mission of our congregation. Whether leading ministries, caring for families, organizing church activities, or providing administrative support, they are committed to helping others know Christ and grow in their faith.

Meet Our Staff

Dr. Bryan McAlister

Dr. Bryan McAlister

Pulpit Minister

In 2022, Bryan and his family joined the work in Champions, after ministering for 14 of the last 23 years in Middle Tennessee.  Since 1999 Bryan and his wife Mendy began their work in ministry, serving congregations in Missouri and Tennessee.  In addition to ministry, Bryan served as a full-time Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences for Freed-Hardeman University from 2014 until 2022.  He now serves as a full-time Assistant Professor in the School of Education and Human Services for Amridge University.  Bryan and his wife Mendy have been married since 1999 and have four children:  Connor (2003), Kendyl (2006), Kinley (2011), and Carsen (2015).  Bryan is the youngest of two sons, born to Kristie McAlister and the late Robert McAlister of Jonesboro, IL.  Their gift to their sons was to raise them in a faithful Christian home.  Bryan has an MA in Community Counseling (2007) and a PhD in Professional Counseling (2017).  He is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).

Wes Arnold

Wes Arnold

Associate Minister

Wes joined the staff as an Associate Minister in July 2018. His responsibilities vary from financial administration to Bible class teacher. Wes helps with our FriendSpeak and widowhood ministries. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian in 1977 with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.  Wes is a CPA and worked in the industry after graduation from OC, until he retired in September 2016.

Megan Murphy

Megan Murphy

Children's Ministry Director

Megan joined Champions with her family in March 2020. She graduated from Harding University with her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She and her husband, along with their two kids, moved back to Houston after her husband finished his Active Duty in the Air Force. She taught in our Little Champs MDO as a teacher for 5 years, and now serving as the Children's Director in 2026.

Elizabeth McLeckie

Elizabeth McLeckie

Office Manager

Elizabeth was born and raised at Champions. She graduated from Oklahoma Christian University in 2020 with her bachelor's in public relations mass communications. During the summer of 2019, she was the youth ministry intern here alongside her now husband, Justin who is a teacher. Following the birth of their daughter, they relocated to Houston to be closer to family. Her focuses include communications, accounting and church technology needs.

Jeanie Kuehl

Secretary

Jeanie has been the church secretary at Champions since May 1993.  She is a native Texan, born and raised in Marlin, and having lived in Riesel and Burleson before moving to Houston in 1986.  Jeanie and her husband David, have two children (Chad and Kelli).  She says she has been greatly blessed by the love and support of her church family and has enjoyed the many opportunities to serve God and all who worship at Champions.

Lisa Killough

Lisa Killough

Little Champs Mother's Day Out Director

Lisa came to Champions with her family in 1980.  She graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Business and History and later returned for a Secondary Education certification.  While at LCU, she met and married Brent Killough.  Soon after, they returned to the Houston area and have worshiped at Champions ever since.  Lisa taught high school for four years before becoming a mother to Elizabeth, Jonathan and Timothy.  Lisa became director of the Little Champs Mother's Day Out program in the summer of 2002.
