Our Shepherds
The elders at Champions serve as spiritual shepherds of our church family, providing guidance, encouragement and care. They are committed to helping individuals and families grow closer to Christ, provide biblical leadership, care for the spiritual needs of the congregation, and help guide the church according to God's Word. They regularly pray for the congregation, support families, and help people navigate both the joys and challenges of life.

Meet Our Elders
Bill Johnson
Bill and his wife, Sherry, have been part of the Champions family for many years. He has a heart for encouraging others, strengthening families, and helping people grow closer to Christ. Bill especially enjoys getting to know new members and helping them find ways to connect within the congregation.

Alan Reed
Alan Reed and his wife, Lisa, have been part of the Church of Christ in Champions family since 1991. Alan has a heart for shepherding God's people and is committed to teaching, encouraging, and helping lead the congregation in its mission to follow Christ. He is especially passionate about strengthening church leadership, nurturing spiritual growth, and helping create a church home where families and children can thrive.
Together, Alan and Lisa enjoy spending time with family, traveling, and investing in the lives of others. Alan considers it a blessing and privilege to serve the Lord's church and to walk alongside this congregation in faith.

Don Sammons
Don and his wife, Susan, have been part of the Champions family since 2000. Don enjoys getting to know visitors and member at every opportunity. He especially enjoys meeting and getting to know young families while striving to help involve the families into the fellowship.

Drew Slatton
Drew and his wife, Kellye, have been part of the Champions family for many years. He has a heart for encouraging others, strengthening families, and helping people grow closer to Christ. Drew especially enjoys getting to know new members and helping them find ways to connect within the congregation.

Wes Smith
Wes and his wife, Christy, have been members at Champions since 1999. They have two married sons and one grandson. Throughout the years, they have served in missions, youth, education, benevolence, and other ministries. Wes serves as an elder because he loves the church and its people, and he is passionate about sharing the gospel, equipping others to serve, and helping God's church grow. He also enjoys investing in young people through his work as a high school teacher.

Troy Thompson
Troy and his wife, Kelly, have called the Spring area home for many years and are blessed with two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter. After retiring from Chevron, Troy now serves as a professor with Texas A&M University. He has a passion for encouraging spiritual growth, building meaningful relationships, and personally reaching out to others with thoughtful handwritten notes and words of encouragement.

Our elders and deacons are not distant leaders—they worship, serve, pray, and grow alongside the congregation every week. We encourage you to introduce yourself, ask questions, and get to know them personally.
