Singing
As instructed by the Bible, singing is one of the ways that we worship and praise God.
A unique thing about churches of Christ is that we sing a cappella, that is, without the accompaniment of musical instruments. Following the pattern of New Testament worship (1 Corinthians 14:15; Ephesians 5:18, 19; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 2:12), we believe that everyone should participate in singing praises to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly with all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Singing flows from the Word of Christ dwelling in our hearts. As we are joined in song, we learn to be the community of God. As we lift our voices in praise, we learn what it means to live in the presence of God through His grace.
