Craig and Jeri continue to live in Memphis Tennessee and still plan on becoming missionaries in Papua New Guinea in 2006. We are planning on becoming the sponsoring congregation for their work. The mission committee team is currently preparing a long-term budget and drafting a working agreement that outlines the respective responsibilities and expectations. World Bible School (WBS)

Wilma Kidd is the newest participant in the WBS program here at Champions. She just completed and mailed out introductory lessons to students in Ghana, West Africa. If anyone is interested in participating or if a current teacher wants additional names please let Troy Thompson know.

Peter Chin

Peter Chin attends the Memphis School of Preaching in Tennessee. He is a key leader in the Klang church in Klang, Malaysia. Peter intends to return to Singapore in three years after completing a two year program in ministry and a year of graduate study at the school to teach in the Four Seas School of Preaching to train native Asian preachers. Champions currently supports Peter with a monthly stipend of $250. Peter is married to Pooi Fun and has two boys, Andy and Willy, that are all with him here in the US. Recently, Peter and his family participated in a restoration trip with the school. The trip toured sites of some of the original pioneers of the new testament restoration that occurred here in the US in the 1800s. We paid for a portion of the trip. Peter has been doing excellent in his studies. He recently received all A’s on his second quarter final term tests in Hebrew History, Numbers and Deuteronomy, Life of Christ II (Luke) and Topical Preaching. Peter and his family would welcome notes of encouragement. His address is Peter Chin, 76 N. Iron Creek Court #201, Collierville, TN 38017. Peter’s email address is pchin@midsouth.rr.com and Pooi Fun’s email address is pooifun@midsouth.rr.com. They also have a family web site at URL: http://peterchinfamily.bizhat.com/ that has added information on their family.

Foreign Mission Committee Meeting – Summary of April 3rd Meeting

Recently, the Foreign Mission Committee met in the Library on April 3rd. Those in attendance were Jim Chitwood, Larry Keele, Wes Smith, Marvin Trice and Troy Thompson. The committee heard the previous meeting minutes and a financial report given by Troy. Mission report updates were given from various people in attendance. New business focused around an update on the progress of the budget and the draft working agreement for the Fords in New Guinea. The committee meets once a quarter and anyone is welcome to attend.

Congratulations to Mark Engel!

Mark Engel recently completed his study at Sunset International and is in the process of applying and interviewing for preaching positions throughout the US. Our congregation was financially supporting him during some of his time at Lubbock. Mark’s wife, Allison, is the daughter of Glenn and Donna Couch and the granddaughter of Don and Nettie Jo Jackson. They have two children, Abigail and Seth. We look forward to maybe having Mark guest preach here at Champions sometime in the future.

Recent Requests

I along with the Elders receive numerous requests for financial assistance and support. The following areas are not in our budget but some of you may have interest in supporting individually.

• Bryan and Debby Shelley Both are currently enrolled at Sunset in Lubbock preparing for work in a foreign mission field and are asking for help with monthly living expenses while in school.
