Elders Biographical Sketch

Danny Mize
Danny has been an elder at Champions since November 1992 and had previously served as a deacon at Champions for 4 years. He and Laura have three daughters (Khristi, Adelle and Ashley) and one son (Lanny). They came to Champions in 1987. Danny teaches, visits regularly and is actively involved with Education, Fellowship and Youth ministry areas.

Jim Chitwood Jim has been a member at Champions since 1989. He has been an elder at Champions since November 1992 having previously served as a deacon at Champions for one year. He and Marcia have two married daughters (Julie and Kathryn) and one married son (Scott) and four grandchildren (Sarah, David, Braedon, and Alex). Jim formed his own engineering company, Chitwood Engineers, in 1984 and does contract work for major international oil and gas producing companies. Jim teaches, makes visits and is actively involved with Building/Grounds/Office, Benevolence and Women ministry areas.

Marvin Trice
Marvin has been an elder at Champions since November 1997. He and Sue have a son (David), a married daughter (Brenda) and two grandchildren (Tanner and Kailey). Marvin retired from Exxon Mobil Corporation in March 2000. Marvin teaches classes, visits regularly, conducts Bible studies and is actively involved with Missions, Outreach, Young Families and Young at Heart ministry areas.

Tommy Weaver
Tommy has been an elder at Champions since February 2000 and had previously served as a deacon at Champions for 22 years. He and Donna have two daughters (Missy and Mandy). Tommy is a lieutenant in the Houston Police Department. In addition to shepherding the flock here at Champions, Tommy regularly leads singing and is able to interpret for the deaf..

Myron Stewart
Myron has served as an elder at Champions since March 2005 having also previously served in this role from 1997 to 2002. He and Nancy have three married daughters (Kathryn, Barbara and Sharon) and eight grandchildren. Myron is employed by Edge Petroleum Corporation as Manager, Internal Auditing. Myron teaches Bible classes. He is also involved with the evangelism, prison ministry and new member involvement ministries.
