FAMILY MATTERS...

Larry KeeleFrom our Book of the Week we read, “The fear of the Lord leads to life” (Prov. 19:23). Our respect of God is being shown as we sincerely give our hearts and minds to His worship today! In giving ourselves to Him we find not only the “meaning of life” but true life.

We are blessed with a number of friends and family who have come to share in this service of worship and the activities of the day with us! If you are visiting, please complete a visitor’s card. We are so glad you came and hope that you will be with us again soon.

Ladies Bible Class has ended for the year. We are thankful to Cindy Asher and Judy Throneberry for leading our ladies through these mid-week studies of encouragement, devotion and depth in the Scriptures. Class will resume, Lord willing, in the fall.

Parting Thought: To have a friend—be a friend!

Jeremy's Junction

Jeremy Geurin"My food," said Jesus "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying 'One sows and another reaps' is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor." (Mark 4:34-38)

This weekend a few of us will be attending a retreat at the Reed's lake house. This will be an extensive training weekend for those who are going to serve on our Lithuania mission trip team this summer: Tyler Jones, Jacob Reed, Luke Sandhop, Summer Gibson, Brett Toldan, Nathan Thompson, Tracine Gibson, Aubri, and myself. As you know, every summer we conduct a church camp for teenagers in Lithuania and we take a select few from Champions to help out. It can be a tough trip, but it has always proved fruitful for the Lithuanians and Belarusians who have attended and those Americans who have given their time and energy to plan and execute the camp. In fact, most of the members of the church in Vilnius were converted through the camp, and rely on it each summer to help grow and bolster their faith and spiritual knowledge. This camp is a major part of their year and a major outreach to teens and young adults in the community.

This weekend, our workers are going to experience a day at camp. They are going to have conversations on how to deal with the different issues they will face while conducting a camp in a foreign country. They are going to eat strange (to Americans at least) breakfast foods like green peas, fish sticks, and ice cream. They will have a lunch that consists of pancakes, weenies, soup, and rye bread. They will also have a chance to experience Lithuanian-style sports and activities. This weekend is dedicated to helping our team be as prepared as possible to help bring Christ to Lithuania–to make His presence stronger in the hearts of the Christians there.

Please pray for us as we take this time getting our hearts and minds ready for our missionary journey. Please let these wonderful teens and adults know how proud you are of their dedication and sacrifice. See you Sunday morning at church and looking forward to fellowshipping with you all at the PICNIC!

Bible Bowl 2010

We have completed another year of Bible Bowl and it was another fantastic year. 2010 proved to be a year to remember with a record number of participants, coaches, and top performers. I want to take this time to thank each and every person that had a hand in making Bible Bowl such a huge success. Wes Smith and Melanie Willis helped me with the 7th-12th graders and Shanna and Kent Phillips, Christy Smith, Amy White, Aubri Geurin, and many others helped make the 3rd-6th grade class a success. This year we had 32 participants compete in Dallas and work hard to learn 2 Samuel in just three months. Thomas Smith took home an individual gold in his final year of Bible Bowl. The 9-10 team took home a team gold and was one of the top teams in Dallas, and the 5-6 grade group took home gold as well with a strong team score. All the teams put in hours and hours of studying, learning, and reading to earn these medals. Here are 2010's participants and results:
