“...still”

The turkey has probably been put away by now (either literally or figuratively!). The guests have either left or are in the process of saying their good-byes. If there are any artificial pumpkins or turkeys decorating the front yard, they have probably been exiled once again to the garage or attic. The pages of the calendar have turned. Thanksgiving is over.

Or, is it?

We are still the most blessed people on all the earth. We live in a land where there is prosperity (even in tough economic times). We live in a land where there are freedoms (including the freedom to worship our God as He pleases). We live in a land where there are countless blessings (even though sometimes we take them for granted).

Yes, the turkey is gone...but it is indeed a day of Thanksgiving...still!

FAMILY MATTERS...

Larry KeeleGood morning and welcome to the services of the church of Christ in Champions! If you are visiting with family or friends, or have just come our way, we are thankful for your presence! May God’s blessings be yours—and if you must travel back home today, our prayers go with you.

We welcome Debra Lacy to the family in Champions! As one who was already a Christian, Debra placed membership with us last Sunday morning. We are thankful that she has chosen to let the elders know of her desire to be under their care and keeping, as well as to be identified with the brothers and sisters in God’s family that meet at this place. Debra, we pray that God will richly bless you in your service for the Kingdom.

Today is a day of mixed emotions as it is the last day that the Freeds will work with us in this location. Since their arrival here, they have often been in Bible studies and have helped in the sharing of the Gospel and conversion of several. We are most thankful for their evangelistic work and spirit. As most of you know, they have been seeking a place to serve in the Kingdom and they have found such a place in our own “backyard.” They have committed to spending the next few years helping to evangelize the people of Galveston and helping to rebuild that congregation. One of the great problems that the congregation has been dealing with, of course, is the aftermath of Ike. Our prayers go with Jason, Natalie, Justin, and Kristen as they make this move in ministry and missions. Champions is blessed to be the overseeing congregation for the Freeds' work there, so we will continue to have a great tie to their lives and work. May God’s richest blessings go with them.

This abbreviated version of our bulletin was made possible by our shortened “work week” in the office! We will be “back to normal” next Sunday, Lord willing.

Parting Thought: Another day of life and light! Another day to worship our Lord! Certainly we have more to be thankful for than we did last week, even on Thursday!

LarryHAVE A BLESSED WEEK!
