FAMILY MATTERS...

Larry Keele“The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul...” (Psa. 19:7)

What a blessing it is to have the Word of God that meets the needs of the depths of our souls! Through the Word (the Scripture), we are led to the Word that “became flesh.” It was through the sacrifice of Jesus’ body and blood that we are able to stand today in the presence of the Almighty! How blessed we are! Our guests who have come today to worship our Father with us also bless us. We hope that each one will come again.

Our teens had a wonderful weekend at Leadership Training for Christ in Dallas! You will be seeing some of the visible results of their labors as they are presented with their awards today at the conclusion of our worship service. However, the rewards for their work in the Word, studying the book of John and their service activities in the Kingdom are far greater than any material award. We are thankful for their talents and abilities and that they are willing to put them to work for the Master.

Who will you invite to our special event in May? Will you make a list of five people that you will personally invite? Will you pray for them? Will you ask them? This can be a great tool for impacting our community—but only if we get the word out! Let’s do our part.

Parting Thought: Experience—that which causes people to make new mistakes instead of old ones.

LarryHAVE A BLESSED WEEK!

Jeremy's Junction

Jeremy Geurin1 Timothy 4:13

"Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching."

Preaching and teaching are a core tool that is used by the Christian to share the Word with others and to encourage those in the church. Every Wednesday night, following class, we have a brief devotional and an invitation. Christian men from every age are given the opportunity to share with the church something that has moved them. For many, this is a stepping stone to doing more public speaking and maybe one day preaching.  For others, this is simply the opportunity to share with the church how God has moved in his life.

We encourage any Christian male to please sign-up for these opportunities. The sign-up page is on the bulletin board opposite the stairwell. Please take the time and find a date that is good for you and working with us in teaching and preaching the word of God so that all of us may be encouraged with how God has showed his love in your life

John QuallsMORE ON WORDS HAVE MEANING

For the past 15-20 years political correctness has expanded its influence on the culture of our language deeper and deeper. Last week we explored some of the more noxious concepts. I pointed out that one of the ways to change public opinion of a bad action or activity is to soften the words identifying it. But the other side of the coin is to change public opinion of a good or wholesome trait is to use more course or harsh words to define it. Let’s look at some examples.

There has long been a drive to change our society to accept almost anything in the area of sexuality. Hence: (bisexual) is sexually non-preferential; (homosexual) is gay; (lesbian) is gynocentric being; (promiscuous) is sexually active; (prostitute) is a sex care provider; (sex change) is gender reassignment; (lover) is spouse equivalent. On the other side of this coin is innocent (girl watching) is considered street harassment and (girlfriend) is acquaintance rape survivor; (marriage) is legalized rape.

The politically correct people do not want to accept anything as being right or wrong – good or bad. Hence: (angry) is passionate; (argued) is shared feelings; (bad) is different; (crazy) is emotionally different; (devil) is God’s mischievous offspring; (dishonest) is ethically disoriented; (drug addict) is chemically challenged; (drunk) spatially perplexed; (evil) potentially good; (false) is seemingly not entirely correct; (graffiti) people’s art; (inmate) a guest; (junkie) substance abuse survivor; (lazy) is of different interest; (liar) is a person creative with the facts; (shoplifter) is a non-traditional shopper; (stoned) is chemically inconvenienced; (violence) is passionate expression; (worst) is least best and (wrong) is differently logical.

The politically correct radical environmentalists would bankrupt our economy to save a gnat and let the human race die from terrible diseases rather than sacrifice a mouse for medical experimentation. They would also let us freeze without firewood, cancel all books rather than cut down a tree. Hence: (animal trainer) is an interspecies communicator; (animals) are non-human beings; (books) are processed tree carcasses; (cattle ranch) is a cattle concentration camp; (egg ranch) is hen rapery; (farmer) is an exploiter of mother earth; (fishing) is raping the oceans; (honey) stolen non-human animal sweetener; (logger) is a tree slayer; (lumberjack) is a tree butcher; (newspaper) is processed tree carcass; (wool) is stolen non-human animal fibers and (zoo) is animalcatraz.

We are in trouble! Pray for our culture!
